Woodland Springs Mailbox Specifications

In an effort to beautify our Woodland Springs neighborhood, we have chosen a standard mailbox post design (like most new subdivisions are doing now) in hopes in improving the overall neighborhood appearance. Many current mailboxes and posts are damaged, rusty, crooked and in major disrepair. They have yellow or black plastic newspaper holders hanging from the posts. Overall, many of them do not give the house a good appearance from the curb view . Some people just don't see how bad their mailbox looks!

So, if you would like to improve and beautify your mailbox and post appearance, we have put together some specifications and information for you to follow in acquiring a new mailbox and post.

There are two options for mailbox installation:

1. Have AAA Mailbox Company from Zionsville do the entire project.
2. Purchase the post from AAA , the box from Lowe's and have the white letters put on by Express Graphics. Then install the post and all by the homeowner.

The mailbox post we are promoting, as our Woodland Springs neighborhood standard, is the AAA 6” x 6” Stanchion Model and retails for $200.00+/-. (Group buying in quantities will lower the cost.) If you would want them to do the complete job they have pricing for complete installation and various options. Contact them at the above telephone number and/or visit their website for more information.

Black Metal Large Mailbox Source: Purchase at any Lowe's store - Model #217532 X-Lg. Black. The price is $23.97 plus sales tax. You will also want to purchase six stainless steel screws to mount the box to the post shelf. (This eliminates any rust.)

White Vinyl Numbers and Street Name: The white vinyl address labels can be purchased at Express Graphics at 620 South Rangeline Road - Suite D in Carmel . Their phone number is 580.9500 and the contacts are Alison or Teresa. Getting several neighbors together to have a group of the boxes done at one time can lower their cost considerably. Express Graphics will install the white vinyl letters to the sides of the mailbox if you deliver it to them. The number size height is 3 ¼" and the address letter height is 2". You need to tell them the size of the mailbox you have purchased from Lowe's.

Post Paint Specification: Olympic Weather Screen Solid Color Stain. The color is Stone Hedge and can be purchased at any Menard's store. Choosing the same post color will help identify the Woodland Springs neighborhood.

Mark Before You Dig: If you decide to install you own mailbox post, you must first call 1.800.382.5544 and request that the existing post area, or where the new post is to be located, be marked for any utilities. You must allow several days for the service to mark the area.

NOTE: The United States Post Office requests that the height of the bottom of the metal box be between 40" and 45" from the street payment. This means that the metal box should be approximately 38" from the top of the curb and the bottom of the mailbox. The front edge of the 6 x 6 post should be approximately 29" to 39" from the edge of the concrete curb and grass.
